Just when Indian smartphone makers started losing against Chinese players, our favourite home-brand Micromax rose up to the occasion with the second generation of its powerful phablet, Canvas Mega 2.
Priced well below 10k, the mind-boggling beauty is set to debut in the Indian market.
It packs a strong set of specs with good looks, and makes up a decent upgrade over the previous iteration which did look good, but failed to outperform handsets offering better internals at same price.
Since then, things have changed and Micromax has learned a lot from its past mistakes. The company has tweaked its brand logo, and has introduced some major upgrades for its heavily criticized bloatware stuffed software.
Canvas Mega 2, with all such upgrades, boasts a large profile for big-screen lovers and promises a unique experience that you’ll hardly find anywhere. But this isn’t going to be an easy run, especially when you’re up against players like Xiaomi and Lenovo, trying so hard to mark their sway. Meaning, the new Micromax Canvas Mega 2 will face some serious competition from the following smartphones:
Redmi Note 3
Available in two avatars, Redmi Note 3 is one of the only few phablets that not only endow lifelike visuals, but also pair up with strong internals to handle multi-tasking and heavy usage seamlessly. As per 91Mobiles, the all new Lenovo Phab is also a strong contender for the title. The big-screened device incorporates a whopping 6.98-inch HD display with IPS technology, and boasts big-screen experience from all angles. The display of this device looks immersive for on-the-go multimedia lovers, and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage. Lenovo Phab certainly packs a strong punch against Canvas Mega 2, which hardly manages to deliver mild performance with its entry-level chipset.
Lenovo Vibe K4 Note
Another success story from Lenovo, Vibe K4 Note brings an ideal package for on-the-go smartphone users. The device makes a perfect alternative for Canvas Mega 2, and boasts a prolific set of innards with a razor sharp full-HD IPS display. The hardware and camera performance of ZenFone Max is quite tempting, but the thing that lures us and stands out against Canvas Mega 2 is its prolific power support. 5000mAh under-the-hood gives you immense power for non-stop work and play, even after an entire day of heavy usage.
LeEco Le 1s
Despite being a newbie, LeEco has done a pretty decent job in job drawing buyers away from Xiaomi, Lenovo, and Motorola. The company has introduced only a handful of smartphones, but the overwhelming response received from buyers is a clear sign that there’s more to come in coming months. As of now, the entry-level handset Le 1S from the company is creating a big buzz with its exemplary set of specs and premium looks. The device bears a sleek and slim metal body with fingerprint scanner on the rear, and endows a truly beautiful visual experience with its 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display. It not only takes a dig against Canvas Mega 2, but also poses a threat against the highly successful Vibe K4 Note and Honor 5X.

Overall, the impeccable performance, strong battery life, and good looks of this handset clearly makes better package than Micromax Canvas Mega 2.
To sum up, these 5 smartphones can easily take the game away from Micromax. The company has received a decent response from Canvas Mega 2, but seeing the impressive performance of these five phones, we’ll have to say, it will not be an easy run for India’s biggest smartphone manufacturer. Canvas Mega 2, looks good at its own place, but by spending few more bucks, one can easily grab a much better phablet that too with premium looks and top-of-the line internals.
